INF2020: KEYBOARDING
Students enhance their occupational level keyboarding competence of all keystroke functions, using unedited, edited and straight copy material.
Prerequisite:  None

Skill Level

Your goal will be to achieve 30–50 wpm on the alphanumeric keypad and 100–150 kpm on the numeric keypad with no more than one uncorrected error on each.

Estimated Required Time

Your timed trials for the alphanumeric keypad will be two and three minutes in length. For the numeric keypad, each trial will last one minute.

Time to Work

Complete the following timed trials. Your time will be scored after you take each timed trial. Make sure you document your scores. Upon successful achievement of speed and accuracy, you will be ready to attempt the final test. Discuss your readiness with your teacher.

To earn this course credit:
  1. Practise! Good sites include http://www.typingtest.com/ and http://www.sense-lang.org/typing/tutor/test.php 
  2. When ready for a final test, go to Alphanumeric Review and select a 2 minute test.
  3. Do the test.
  4. Print out your report.
  5. Go here for Numeric Review and select a 1 minute test.
  6. Do the test.
  7. Print out your report.
  8. You will hand in 2 alphanumeric and 2 numeric tests that you completed on your own.
  9. Do an observed test.
  10. Marks are assigned on a scale as follows. 30WPM = 60% –> 50WPM = 100% See chart below.

*Your accuracy for all tests must achieve a minimum of 96% and no more than 1 error.

    • In the dropdown menus select the following options:
    • Select English for language.
    • Select 3 minutes for time.
    • Select a content option of your choosing.
  • Complete three different tests and record them in your Keyboarding Journal.
